Rev. Dr. Robert B. Lyles

Rev. Dr. Robert Brown Lyles, born in Greensboro, Alabama, in 1907, was a visionary leader who guided the NSBDA with faith and wisdom. Installed as pastor of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in 1946, Dr. Lyles’ influence extended far beyond the pulpit. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the American Baptist Theological Seminary and an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Arkansas Baptist College. Over the years, he held several prestigious positions, including 17 years as President of the Illinois Baptist General State Convention and 16 years as Moderator of the NSBDA. His legacy is honored annually through our lecture series.
